MINING THE MATERIAL ECOLOGY

Cerro De Pasco, Peru
2024

This research-based social practice work documents, archives, and reimagines the violence inflicted on natural landscapes by human-based material extraction through a seed-bombing workshop and darkroom experimentation. The heavily polluted site of Cerro de Pasco in the Peruvian Andes became the focal point of the project. This project addresses the environmental and social challenges faced by communities in such mining regions and opens up a critical dialogue on land abuse and material extraction.
